Rosie Hospital. Displaying 1 to 10 of I recently had my son at the Rosie after having a bad experience with my daughter at west suffolk. The care, love and support I was given by all the midwives at the Rosie from start to finish was absolutely outstanding. Due to covid19 I was worried and concerned about what the whole experience would be like but I enjoyed every moment of it. I felt safe and welcomed, The whole experience was so privet and personal and there was never any need to of worried. My husband wasn’t being rushed out straight after my son’s delivery, and me and my son were able to stay in our own birthing suit room for the whole duration of my stay. Masks and gloves were worn the whole time and yet it didn’t feel strange it was so reassuring. I never got chance to say thankyou to my midwife who delivered my son on her own as shed finished her shift befor I woke up but this lady has my forever thanks and love that night. She was just absolutely wonderfull and a very calming, professional and experienced midwife.
Ultrasound baby scans in pregnancy
Metrics details. There have been dramatic changes in the approach to screening for aneuploidy over the last 20 years. However, the approach to screening for other complications of pregnancy such as intra-uterine growth restriction, pre-eclampsia and stillbirth remains largely unchanged. Randomised controlled trials of routine application of high tech screening methods to the general population have generally failed to show improvement in outcome.
We have previously reviewed this and concluded it was due, in large part, to poor performance of screening tests. Here, we report a study design where the primary aim is to generate clinically useful methods to screen women to assess their risk of adverse pregnancy outcome.

A damning investigation exposed the scandal after a string of deaths of women and newborns at the hospital. The report comes after experts warned that understaffed and under-equipped maternity units across the country are coming under unprecedented strain because of the rising birth rate. Exposed: ‘Abusive’ midwives are putting mothers and babies in danger at Queen’s Hospital in Romford, Essex, one of the country’s largest maternity units.
The Royal College of Midwives has warned that a record shortage of midwives around the country is putting mothers and babies at risk. Lisa Gardiner began suffering excruciating headaches and swollen legs shortly after giving birth to her daughter Chloe. They said she should go home, put her feet up to try to reduce the swelling, and take some painkillers. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, she fell into a coma and at one point doctors had to resuscitate her as her heart stopped beating.
Miss Gardiner spent four days in intensive care. Although staff measured her blood pressure several times after she gave birth to Chloe in August last year, they failed to realise she was suffering from post-partum pre-eclampsia, a life-threatening condition that leads to abnormally high blood pressure. Instead they said her legs had swollen up due to water retention caused by an epidural injection. I very nearly died. At least a further 4, midwives are needed to guarantee the safety of women and their newborns, it said.

Fetal growth restriction is a major determinant of adverse perinatal outcome. Screening procedures for fetal growth restriction need to identify small babies and then differentiate between those that are healthy and those that are pathologically small. We sought to determine the diagnostic effectiveness of universal ultrasonic fetal biometry in the third trimester as a screening test for small-for-gestational-age SGA infants, and whether the risk of morbidity associated with being small differed in the presence or absence of ultrasonic markers of fetal growth restriction.
The Pregnancy Outcome Prediction POP study was a prospective cohort study of nulliparous women with a viable singleton pregnancy at the time of the dating ultrasound scan. Women participating had clinically indicated ultrasonography in the third trimester as per routine clinical care and these results were reported as usual selective ultrasonography. Additionally, all participants had research ultrasonography, including fetal biometry at 28 and 36 weeks’ gestational age.
These results were not made available to participants or treating clinicians universal ultrasonography. We regarded SGA as a birthweight of less than the 10th percentile for gestational age and screen positive for SGA an ultrasonographic estimated fetal weight of less than the 10th percentile for gestational age.
Markers of fetal growth restriction included biometric ratios, utero-placental Doppler, and fetal growth velocity. We assessed outcomes for consenting participants who attended research scans and had a livebirth at the Rosie Hospital Cambridge, UK after the 28 weeks’ research scan. Screening of nulliparous women with universal third trimester fetal biometry roughly tripled detection of SGA infants.
